A rainy old trip up and down the A1 but we were relatively pleased with Ernie Bilko's racecourse debut at Sedgefield. The 4yo Shirocco gelding took to the preliminaries with little fuss and gave a good account of himself from the front for the first circuit.
led, headed halfway, weakened 4f out (25/1)
While his race was won as the field turned for home it was pleasing to see him stay on in the final furlong and overtake horses on his run to the line, eventually finishing a creditable 6th with plenty of scope for improvement.
This Sedgefield Bumper represents both the start of his career and the end of his journey from foal to racecourse. It truly is an honour to see these horses grow and learn their trade, we hope the story for this youngster is only just starting and will look for more opportunities to add to his experience in the coming weeks.
