Laura Horsfall Racing: The Look Ahead
A busy week ahead at Glebe Barn Stables with three of the string having entries, we'll begin by reflecting on some promising runs last week though.
We were very pleased with Just A Whim's run at Haydock, finishing a nine length fourth in what might turn out to be a good novice hurdle. A real improvement in form for the 7 year old mare since her 52 length defeat at Exeter 2 weeks earlier, in truth she just met a wall of horses last time out and never got settled, the smaller field at Haydock gave her plenty of time to see her hurdles and she ran a cracker.
We're all set for Stratford on Monday where Bayley's Dream takes up his entry in Division one of the 2m6f handicap hurdle. The 12 year old hasn't been seen since February 2019 after a couple of prolific seasons pointing, winning 7 of his 15 starts, he's fit and well at home. His sole win under rules came off a mark of 100 back in 2015 and runs off a mark of 90 here for owner and jockey Billy Aprahamian. We know Billy well, he won the Grand Military Gold Cup in 2018 and since then, he's been part of Nicky Henderson's team as an assistant trainer. You can read more about his exploits here
It's been a while since we've run Hit the Bottle but she is fit and raring to go. The 6 year old holds an entry in the seller at Wetherby on Thursday. The weather has played havoc with her plans with the ground not being right and where we have planned to race we've been balloted out, fingers crossed she gets a run. Ground and track should suit.
Loveyoutothemoon has been praying for better ground and with the recent dry weather and the sun on her back she is feeling very full of beans at home. She holds an entry at Wetherby on Thursday in the 3 mile novice hurdle and also Uttoxeter in a 2m7 novice hurdle. Both courses are giving the ground as good and the weather forecast is set to improve so we will make a plan early in the week.
We've loved welcoming more horses to the stables and our plans look even busier over the next few weeks. Good luck to all owners, jockeys and horses this week.
